April 2021

Ghent,

April had a couple of really nice sunny days. So I found myself, more than once, working from the canal that is a couple of blocks from our apartment.

Unplugging from the matrix

At the beginning of April, I wrote about Dedicating a Device for Accessing Your Social Networks. This has helped me a lot detach from the mainstream social networks and I’m very pleased about that. Many times I even find out that I haven’t touched the device in days. The days that I find myself using SNs more, is because I forgot to remove them from my iPad, which I’ll get to do this month.

I finally received my Xmas gift from last year. It’s an open hardware laptop that you can put together. I wrote a about the process of putting it together, which caught a lot more attention than any post I’ve ever written (Nothing crazy but a few thousand views). As I mentioned on the [MNT Reform 2 DIY kit review], I think this machine will help me do a lot more work off-line, which I plan to report on in future updates.

Diet

This month I didn’t follow any particular diet. Instead I was trying to consciously make healthier choices, e.g. instead of having a burger with fries, I’d get a salad. I didn’t loose any weight, but I still managed to reduce my body fat a tiny bit so I don’t think I’ll be doing much of a change during May, instead I want to exercise a little.
