Helping Grow the Sharing Economy at Ring Twice
I’m very excited to announce that this Monday was my first day working for the Belgian startup Ring Twice. In this post, I’d like to share a little about them and my future role.
About Ring Twice
Ring Twice is an online market that pairs individuals and freelancers with people looking to get odd-jobs done. For what I’ve been able to experience, they are a group of individuals working hard to grow the sharing economy in Belgium.
One of the key aspects that draw me to them is their focus on the human factor. Since day one I’ve been getting a sense of their strong camaraderie within their team but for what I understand they also build strong relationships with their service providers in order to give every customer the best possible experience.
Prove of this is how they reacted during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the situation forced them to shut their doors for business, they sat down to brain storm and decided to keep the platform open for people to do volunteer work to help those in high-risk groups get their groceries done and make face masks to help with the shortage. I barely know them but I’m already very proud of them.
About my Role
I’m a part of the engineering team where my main task will be the further development of the web platform. As the first senior developer in the team, I’ll help optimize their development process and will be responsible to help my colleagues grow in their technical careers.
I believe this will be a great opportunity for me, because thanks to my experience, I’m prepared to tackle many of the technical and operational challenges to come. I also think the company’s size will allow me to get a bit involved with other parts of the business beyond engineering, something which I’ve wanted to do for a while now. And last but not least, because I can already tell we’re going to have lots of fun learning from them and working together.
